Descripción

Fondo is a type family for the exclusive use of one of the most prestigious Latin American publishing houses, Fondo de Cultura Económica. It seeks to combine European and American Renaissance typography of the 16th century with elements belonging to a type family of the 21st century. There are two versions: a serif and a sans, both ready to compose text in leading European languages.

The family affords distinction and elegance to the institution’s publications. The main use of the family is setting text in the publisher’s most important books, as well as some promotional materials.

Fondo was awarded a Certificate of Excellence in Type Design in 2008 by the TDC2 (Type Directors Club Typeface Design Competition) and selected in Tipos Latinos, a biennial competition for Latin American typography.
