Kukulkan is a type family designed to compose body text. Kukulkan has been a successful experiment, which without compromising legibility, incorporates details which bestow it with true Mexican character.
The typeface is a mixture of several typographic styles. One recognizes the influences of old style fonts, but also characteristics of fancy fonts. The result is a crossbred family, with a firm and decisive stroke, both contemporary and old-fashioned. The author originally intended it as a family whose natural application would be art books, but with the passage of time it has shown its worth in other environments (logos, magazines, books of various kinds).
Kukulkan has been selected twice to be part of the sample of Tipos Latinos, a biennial competition for Latin American typography, in 2006 as a font and in 2008 as a family, where it also won a certificate of excellence. It was also recognized with the award a! Diseño in the typeface category (2009).
This splendid family will be commercially launched in the coming months.
