Gandhi is a type family designed for optimum readability. It was originally commissioned by Gandhi, the largest bookstore chain in Mexico, to be offered to their customers as a free, quality option for everyone who needs to write documents for the office, put together a presentation, write a thesis, and so on. There are two versions, a serif and a sans, each with four fonts, both of which can be download at letracase.com and tipografiagandhi.com
The family seems larger when compared to other fonts of the same scale, which gives the user a feeling of greater readability and therefore supports the brand’s slogan: “Read more.” The family is perfect for a general user’s needs and reaches ideal thickness on inkjet printers.
Gandhi Bookstores currently uses this family for their advertising campaigns instead of Helvetica, which they had used previously.
Also, Gandhi Serif was selected in 2012 was selected to be part of the main sample at Tipos Latinos, a biennial competition for Latin American typography which brings together the most important typographic works in the region.
